The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is cheap, typically leaving little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pressed up the cost of oil, the issue of finding alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to discover options to oil.
